This event is restricted to veterans and their families, it is not open to the public. Veterans - please bring a copy of your DD-214, Military ID, or VA Health Care card to enter the event. The term Stand Down was coined during the Vietnam era as a time for service members to take a break from combat to tend to their personal needs such as bathing, eating, getting a haircut, etc. Today, Stand Downs are events where veterans of all eras can go to obtain resources, services, benefits, and other helpful information, all in one spot. The Porter County Stand Down will feature 40+ vendors from a variety of agencies such as VNA Hospice NWI, Purdue Northwest, Miller’s Merry Manor Portage, Honor Flight Chicago, Adam Benjamin VA, Jesse Brown VA, NWI Military Action Network, and more!
